Sinister has had two successful installments in its franchise, with the first installment sweeping the floor beneath everyone, and literally, I would say.
Sinister 3 is yet to release, and even though Sinister 2 was a decent installment by the makers, the questions keep coming as to if the third installment would ever happen. Read this article to find out.
A Peek Into The Storyline
The supernatural horror series starts with the Oswalt family moving into a new home. Little do they know about what is going to happen to them. The series revolved around a monster who targets children and plays with their minds in a manner that they are influenced to kill their families.
The first installment kicks off the series with Ellison Oswalt receiving a box of reels that contain disturbing scenes of murders.
The second installment takes place later and follows a similar storyline except for the fact that Courtney Collins is the one to face the monster along with her children. The monster, named Bughuul (or Mr. Boogie), comes back to haunt another family and manipulate their little ones.
The third installment is under suspense as no one knows if the monster will come back.
The Cast
The first installment of the Sinister series had three main characters. Ellison Oswalt, Tracy Oswalt, & Bughuul played by Ethan Hawke, Juliet Rylance, and Nick King, respectively.
Juliet plays the role of Ethan’s character’s wife and a loving mother to their children. Ethan Hawke’s lead character is a real-crime writer who is always on his feet to write new crime stories. This is probably a reason that he watches those reels and kicks off a series of murders.
Nick King comes back to the second installment, too, and continues to influence the minds of little ones. This time, Courtney Collins, played by Shannyn Sossamon, is the one to take the bullet. She plays the role of a proud mother to her children.
When Can We Expect The Release?
Everyone from the audience has asked this question to Scott Derrickson, the director & writer of the first installment and the writer of the second installment. There has been no definite answer from him except him expressing a little bit of disappointment from the low performance of the second installment.
However, it has now been speculated by the fans that the third installment would be on TV instead of being on the big screen. It has also been speculated that Sinister 3 would merge lightly with the universe of Insidious. Another point that adds to the suspense is the ending of the second installment. Spoiler alert!
In the second installment, Bughuul jumps on the TV screen as the characters break the camera, making it impossible for him to shoot more reels. This leaves everyone in the audience in a state of suspense as no one knows if he will ever come back and if he does, then how. Again, Bughuul was not killed; the camera was broken.

The cloud of suspense is still over the possibility of the third installment releasing any time soon and if speculations are to be believed, then the third installment may be on Television.
